Privacy Policy

Last updated October 22, 2026

Harbor Hire connects people looking for restaurant, bar, and hotel work in Charleston with local employers. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what happens when you apply for a job or post one.

Information we collect

If you are looking for work, information you provide may include your name, email address, phone number, account details, saved jobs, job-alert preferences, resume, and answers or other information you include with an application. You can browse listings without paying a fee. You choose whether to send an application and what information to include.

If you are hiring, we may collect your name, work contact details, employer or business name, account details, job descriptions, location, schedule, pay range, and other listing information you submit. If you purchase a post, we may also receive the order amount, date, package, and payment confirmation.

When you visit the site, we and our site-service providers may receive technical and usage information such as your browser and device type, pages visited, interactions, referring page, approximate location derived from your connection, and diagnostic logs. Cookies or similar tools may be used for site operation, preferences, and usage measurement.

How we use information

We use information to show and review job listings, operate and improve Harbor Hire, help employers receive applications, send job alerts you request, manage accounts and saved jobs, answer questions, protect the site, and meet legal obligations. We use employer contact details to manage listings and provide service messages about them.

We may use site-usage information to understand which pages and features are useful, diagnose problems, and keep the service secure. We do not sell your personal information.

How applications are shared

When you apply, the information you submit—including your contact details, resume, and answers—is shared with the employer for the specific job you chose. That employer may use it to review your application, contact you, and make hiring decisions. Harbor Hire does not send your application to unrelated employers or make it public.

Employers are separate businesses. Their handling of your application after they receive it is governed by their own practices. Ask the employer how they use or keep your information if you need more detail.

Job-alert emails

If you sign up for job alerts, we use your email address and the job criteria you choose to send matching local openings and related service messages. You can stop promotional or alert emails using the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting us. We may still send essential messages about an account or service you use.

Employer posts and pay ranges

Employer job listings are intended to be public. We display the role, employer-provided description, Charleston-area location, schedule, and pay range to people browsing the board. Employers must include a clear pay range to post; listings are reviewed before they appear and may be returned for edits or removed if they do not meet our standards.

Do not put private information about an applicant or another person in a public job listing.

Payments for job posts

Job seekers can browse and apply at no charge. The listed employer options are $99 for one job post that runs for 30 days, or $249 for three job posts.

Payments are processed by our payment provider at checkout. That provider may collect card or billing details directly under its own privacy terms. Harbor Hire will receive the information needed to manage the order, such as the selected package and payment status. Do not email payment-card details to us.

When we share information

Besides sharing an application with its chosen employer, we may share the information needed to run Harbor Hire with service providers that help host the site, deliver email, measure site usage, provide security, or process payments. They may use that information to provide services to us and must handle it appropriately.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to respond to a lawful request, protect people or the service, address fraud or abuse, or complete a business transfer. We do not authorize service providers to sell your personal information.

Retention, security, and your choices

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, manage applications or listings, maintain requested alerts, resolve disputes, and meet legal or security needs. You may ask us to access, correct, or delete information you provided by emailing hello@harborhire.com. We may need to retain some records when the law requires it or when they are needed to resolve a dispute.

We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, but no website or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. You can control cookies through your browser; turning them off may affect some site functions. You can unsubscribe from job-alert emails at any time.

Children and policy changes

Harbor Hire is for job seekers and businesses, not children. Please do not create an account or send us personal information if you are not permitted to use the service.

We may update this policy as Harbor Hire changes. We will post the revised version here and update the date above. If a change affects how information is used in a significant way, we will take reasonable steps to explain it.
